MDXSU Mental Health Awareness Campaign
I was briefed with designing a mental health awareness campaign targeted at students, with the aim of reducing stigma centred around the topic and encouraging people to talk and get help.
8 out of 10 students in the UK have or have experienced a mental health issue whilst studying. The most common are depression and anxiety, with students feeling overwhelmed by daily pressures such as heavy workloads, being away from home, social expectations and trying to attain high standards.
I aimed to meet the brief by designing three posters that illustrated how it feels to suffer from burnout, depression and stress from heavy workloads.
To keep inline with the brand guidelines, I used tones of purple and pink contrasted with black to create a sense of darkness and mood. The drawings are loose and sketchy, adding a distressed feel to the style. Each illustration depicts a different feeling, action or consequence of depression and is captioned with tag-lines of
encouragement and understanding.
