Film showings accompanied by a live orchestra is an experience that is currently all the rage, examples of which include Jaws Live in Concert and Planet Earth Live.

 

‘Ciné Jazz’ is a one day festival bringing the best Jazz film score live to fans of all ages. A live Jazz ensemble performing contemporary, Latin and Classic film titles live in sync; I was briefed with creating a teaser poster for the event which will take place in the new year.  

 

I wanted the illustration to represent the vintage aesthetic that is evoked by a live jazz band, but also appear fresh and modern to appeal to a wide audience.  I chose rich, warm tones and a simple yet dynamic composition, using little details to pull the whole piece together. I love the overall design and think it communicates the atmosphere of the concept perfectly.
